| First time DVD burner buying - anime rules
Ok, I am buying my first DVD-burner. I want a drive that can burn all formats (or most), that is black, fast, dual layer, and reliable. I was gonna buy this NEC drive because it was the cheapest for a while at $43, now it went up to $46. And because of the price jump, other brands have become cheaper. Should I go with the NEC, or are any of these other brands/drives considered better? http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827130034 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827151066 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16827106966
Now out of those 3, the one that stands out is the LITE-ON. I have read that LITE-ON makes some of the best CD burners, but I have not heard anything about their DVD burners.
Thanks,
-Biz

The only thing that I see that the NEC is better, is that its faster for CD-RW than the LITE-ON.
But I will never use a CD-RW again. |

NEC and Lite-On are both perfectly good brands. Actually, you can't really go wrong with any of the mainstream brands, as DVD burner technology and quality has essentially reached a plateau. I would even buy an Optorite if cheap enough.
BTW, I reviewed the Lite-On 1633S here at TIMO. I have never had any problems with Lite-On drives, even with cheap media. http://www.techimo.com/articles/index.pl?photo=212

I find out that the NEC, Lite-On, and even my own Rosewill are the same in speed and qulity.
there around the same price.
I would get the Lite-On because my friend just built one and it is kickAce.

Ok, I think I'll get the LITE-ON, plus I think the LITE-ON front cover looks better, hehe.
Hmmm.....my mom shouldn't have agreed to let me get on newegg and spend my money
This ram looks good, and this hard drive is on sale. Sweet! Look at that fan, its got speed control on it! |

I actually think the Sony drive looks the best, although I will never buy a Sony product. |
