    Second Hard Drive Problem...

I just bought an used hard drive from a friend of mine to add to my 40 gig IDE (the one I got from him is also IDE). The first time I booted it up...it booted slowwwww, and i tried to reformat the one I got from my friend, but windows wouldn't finish it. After giving up because my PC froze I just rebooted my PC, now it will slowly load XP, go to the desktop (can see my wallpaper and the mouse) but I don't see the Windows Taskbar or any icons, though Ctrl + Alt Delete worked.

I was thinking the way I wired the hard drive may have interfered, but I am not sure. I already had the primary IDE slave and master used (for my 40 gig and my DVD drive, and I plugged in the secondary for the other hard drive)

    Anyone got any ideas...?

Have you tried checking the disk with the manufacturer's diagnostics?
