I got a smart failure on my 120 gb maxtor drive and I began backing up my data to my western digital 120gb and burnt some files on dvd's before the maxtor could completely fail on me. I tried to make a new partition with partition magic after this but I got an error from partition magic saying "This partition cannot be created because it exceeds the 1024 cylinder boundary."
The next time I tried to boot, the Wesertn digital would not boot, even into safe mode. I haven't been able to test it on another computer but I don't think that will help any.
Anyone have an idea what the error means or how I could go about salvaging the informatoin from it? I have a lot of stuff on there I would like to save and I hope it will be possible. Any ideas?
