I can't help you very easily from the knowledge that I could gather... If you could elaborate on the 'idd 80 channel' thing, or possible double check the name of the error, that'd be great.

Hopefully someone will be able to help ya out... But it sounds like a weird situation...

You're using an older 40 pin IDE cable, rather than the faster 80 pin. You get a faster throughput on the 80 pin cables, but it will still run with the cable you have attached.

....i had to replace my IDE cable after 3 of the pin connectors fell out
What do you mean by this? What pins fell out? Did they break off of the IDE connector on the motherboard? Or are you saying the cable is damaged?

well, on the ribbon, the first IdE connector has three pins that came out of place after i had to remove the ribbon for some problem with the hardware, and well currently i have tons of ide ribbons and maybe one EIDE cable

you need to make the thread that much longer?
you need a higher post count...?
dont post like that ...its just annoying to the thread starter and all who read through this...
    -------------------------
yes please elaborate on the whole pin situation...
that message pertains to either the cable itself or the pins that connect to it...
If you had damage to the pins themselves you may have a real problem...
you may have to replace the hard drive "board" or resoder a pinout connector to replace the damaged one...
either of wich is hard and or expensive...
if this is the secondary drive and it IS damaged, you may be better off replacing it...
    --------------------------------
IDE and EIDE are the same.. there are 40 pin and 80 pin cables...
were the pins you refer to the ones on the drive itself?

I believe he means that the female end of the cable connector tore away from the cable itself, exposing the teeth (or pins).

You hit the nail on the head, the connector did tear straight from the connector, with the 40 or so i believe pins
