New pc, partition or not ?

This is my new pc i bought rom eclipse computers, first of all what do you think for just under £700 and what i need to know is do i need to partition the hard drive as this is the first 160 gig drive i have had (last pc had 60gb) and how do i go about this (old pc still in use at the min so i can download app if i need to) thanks Gras...

if your XP disk has SP2 on it, you can have 1 partition,

But I would have 2 with a drive that big, that way you can save all your stuff you want to keep on the other partition, so if you ever need to do a install of XP again,

you will not loose any stuff on other partition,

and the XP disk will partition drive when you install it,
