"Prepares NTFS, FAT32
and FAT16 partitions
for Windows XP/2000/Me/98. Prepares NTFS, FAT32
and FAT16 partitions"
That can be done from the boot floppy prepared with the download there with the bootable
floppy diskette creator from the first of the three download links. |

an OS that can run on all three different partition types namely Fat16, Fat32, and
the NTFS types. XP can support up to a 2 terabyte partition. What may be a factor
is the limitations imposed by the system bios. http://support.octek.com.au/FAQ/faq_0113.htm http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=303013 |

On the off chance that he is still running the original (non SP1 or SP2) version of XP your second link might apply. I see no real usefulness for the first link since he' using an ASUS motherboard. For what reason do you seem to have to have the last word? |

That is one reason why a
link explaining the 137gb limitation comes equppied with: http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/ |

Oh I see, you had to dig down pretty far, all the way to the reference for Windows ME, 98SE and NT to get that link. Windows XP from SP1 and up provides that support natively. Their quote, not mine. Quote:
3) Intel Chipset Solutions for Windows Me, 98SE and NT 4.x (partial):
Intel offers drivers to support the full capacity of drives larger than 137 GB on motherboards equipped with the Intel 810, 810E, 810E2, 815, 815, 815E, 815EP, 815P, 820, 820E, 830M, 830MP, 830MG, 840, 845, 850, or 860 chipset. The Intel Application Accelerator v2.3 or above is compatible with Windows XP, Me, 2000, 98SE and NT operating systems. Detailed information and the latest version of the driver can be downloaded from www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/. | |

Hi all, i would like to thank everyone that replied to my original hard drive issue, i emailed the tech support where i purchased my hard drive, and they said it was a faulty hard drive?>.......i knew the drive wasnt faulty, so i emailed the problem to ASUS, their support is really impressive, i had the link to the file right away...installed it and guess what - the drive formatted without any issues!
i do remember haveing to install an updated driver for a 120gb i installed a while ago...i was wondering why i had an "intel apps accelerator" installed.....the one i had was an older version so it worked with the 120gb but not the 200g drive.
So the IATA_CD.exe solved my problem as it installs the drivers!
