FAT32 is better?
Hi all,
Just a quick question...I was advised that I should use FAT32 instead of NTFS format for better compatability/performace with games. Is that true? Does that even make any sense? I will be using a WD 80gb drive along with (probably) Win XP Pro.
Thanks in advance,
ng
PS: I tried to do a search, but nothing that I could find really answered this.

Hmm... that's an interesting question. I kind of doubt FAT32 would work better, but who knows... NTFS's strong point is security. If that's not a big issue with the comp you're working on, I'd say try FAT32.
I've got NTFS on my WinXP partition, and I have had quite a few problems running games. For instance UT has gotten to where it crashes to BSOD every time I close it, and NFS Porsche won't run at all anymore. Now I'm wondering if this is due to the NTFS. Gonna have to check this out... maybe reformat and reinstall XP with a FAT32 system.
