DVD-RW drive wont recognise DVD+R Disks

Iv got a BTC combo drive installed. Never had any problems with it until just. Bought some DVD+R media for it to do some backups of stuff and nothin i sem to do can get it to regognise the disks. it jus spits them back out again and says no disk inserted or disk error. Iv tried this on 5 dvds from the spindle so far and its really annoying. Burned my last 2 dvd's of different brands a couple of days ago with no problem. These ones jus dont seem to want to work. Tried updating the internal firmware but it doesnt want to do that and there are many threads on this drive not allowing a firmware update. Anyone got any ideas?

Common enough problem...
Not all media is supported by all drives...
short of a firmware flash, you will have to by different brand of disks...

they are mr.dvd dvd's. no firmware flash available grr
