multi-dvd burners/storage solutions/HELP?

the company i work for has been backing up all their files (images) on single layer DVD...which wasnt a huge problem when they were only backing up 50GB, but now we are looking at upwards of .25-.5 terabytes every 4 months.

i tried to explain DVD's were a futile solution, but they insist on keeping the DVD backup... and let me tell you breaking up .25TB / 300 folders onto 4GB dvds is enough to make me wanna kill someone.

what i need advice on is:

software... "one click" software that will take 300 folders and split it up into DVD sized chunks, then burn it

hardware... a ubs2/fw device that has 5-10 dual layer dvd burners in it

i think u guys see what im trying to get at... help?

why not save the hassle and go with an offsite secure storage company? I mean geez your talking 3 times a year, the compny I work at has someone come in and back up all the servers once a week, and it's still more cost effective than trying to do it ourselves.

i totally agree with you, but they are just NOT hearing it for whatever reason... so i need to work with what im given... which is enough money to buy some sort of dvd burning array.

Backing up important data onto DVDs is a poor standard backup procedure.
