folding SATA cables?

hey i was wonderin. the manual said not to bend the SATA cables cuz it will cause data corruption or whatever. is this true? why, its not some fibre optics thing or aything right? i bend my cables and have no problems. does it make it slower or something?

when they say don't fold, they mean basically to the extent of where you crease them. Since it's just wire inside there, the wire can easily get a crack or even break altogether if they are bent wrong. A normal fold where you don't crease it or anything is fine, as this is even how they ship :-)

yea its really not pertaining to simply folding them to get them out of the way. Thats what i did in my case with my 4 SATA cables, since they were pretty long and really didnt need more than a few inches i kept them folded and put some of that "snaking" material for wires around them..

As long as its not kinked / pointed on the end you're ok.

I fold/bend mine so that they have about a 1 inch radius curves
