I need buy DVD burner!
Well I hate our family HP pavilion's dvd burner. It won't write any dvd or cd. Well we don't use very much but gave up. I want buy dvd burner that is external so will work all computers or best buy dvd burner internal? I need one that will work with any dvd with no problem.
I need to buy at local so it is Office Depot that it near our area.sorry for my bad grammar!

Look at LG or Lite-on burners. You can find those pretty much anywhere, they work well, and they're cheap, too. Internal or external doesn't really make much (if any) difference in performance, so there's really no reason not to go external.

NEC, Lite-On, and BenQ should be 3 that are good and are cheaper.
External and Internals burn about the same speed. But an external connects through USB or Firewire, whereas internals connect IDE or SATA.
Internals will be cheaper and easier to find compared to Externals.
Check online and compare which local stores carry what you are looking for, and whether they have any in Stock.

I bought an LG external USB burner a month ago. So far no problems. It's a Super Multi model that does DVD +R and -R DVDs, double layer DVDs, CDs. It also supports Lightscribe, which allows you to etch a label onto the CD, rather than using the marker or printing a separate label.
I've only used that feature once so far but the quality of Lightscribe is great.

Well then why our hp have that feature but won't write dvd or cd. When we got it was work until July stop work. We try hp's recovery still not success. I know dvd burner on hp not broken.
Well I think it best is external dvd burner if I need burn dvd but on different computers.
hey SeanC what model dvd burner you bought from store? It work good so I would want same model that you have.sorry for my bad grammar!

Milwaukee, my drives say the same thing. When I right click on my drive, and click Properties: It says 0Used Bytes, 0Free bytes
WHO CARES? They still read, and write CD/DVDs appropriately.
1. Have you actually tried burning a CD/DVD?
2. What burning software are you using?
3. Have you tried burning a CD/DVD at slower write speeds?
