Question
SAS hard drive controller

I was able to get a couple of 76GB 15,000 RPM SAS drives and want to use them in my system.

Unfortunately I don't have any SAS ports on my motherboard (Evga 680i SLI motherboard).

Just wondering what controllers I could buy (that aren't to expensive) that I could use in my system.

Was thinking about $300 max for a controller.

But I am sure it would be worth the price.. those hard drives must FLY!

Not if you plug that controller into a standard PCI slot. PCIE 4x at least for decent performance.

I realize that and I don't think there are even PCI cards for SAS.

I have a free PCI-e 16x slot for a card.

Just not sure what card I should get. I only really need two SAS ports on it.

Controller chips from the usual suspects (Adaptec and LSI) have four or eight ports, so I doubt you'll find a card with less than four.
