| SATA drives not showing up. Need SATA drivers?
I don't want to RAID or anything. I just want to see my two SATA drives connected. I recently installed a new XP and also have the latest BIOS. My mobo is an ASUS K8V SE Deluxe. Anyone know which drivers I need so my Windows can detect the SATA drives? |

Have you checked the bios and made sure that the SATA controller is set to IDE instead of RAID?

There is an OnChip SATA BOOTROM and Onboard Promise Controller enable/disable setting but I've always had them disabled because if I have one of them enabled, it tries to load raid or something during bootup. It's been a long time since I've installed a new XP, that I forgot how to get the SATA drives to show up. I don't think it's anything physical but drivers needed? |

If it is a RAID only SATA port, you will need to install the promise drivers (if indeed it's a promise controller you're connecting the drive to.) You may also need to create a raid array for the drives to show up. You should be able to crate a RAID 0 array with that single drive in order for it to show up. |

I have both SATA drives directly connected to the motherboard. I'm not sure which promise drivers I need or where to find one. I googled a bit but most of the searches come up as people wanting to RAID or install XP on SATA. I just want to enable SATA... |

You should be able to find the drivers by going to the motherboards website. All the availabel drivers should be available for download. |

The ASUS site has them all http://support.asus.com/download/dow...Language=en-us all you have to do is search, well actually select your model from the drop down menus
side note did you check disk management to make sure the drive isn't being detected and just not showing up?

I went to the ASUS website but wasn't sure which one. Should I get the "Promise 64_bit for 64-bit Driver 1.00.1.39." or "Promise SATA378 Driver V1.00.0.26 (ATA Mode)" My CPU is an AMD 64.
The drives do not show up in Disk Management either. |

Hello,
Are you trying to hook up a SATA I, Or SATA II drives? VIA 8237/8237R South-bridge chipsets do not provide upward compatibility with SATA-II hard disk drives at 300 MB/s. These HDDs may not even be detected at POST. To install a SATA-II hard drive, users need to lock the drive at 150 MB/s data transfer rate by HDD jumper setting. Please refer to the following jumper setting from HDDs manufacturers or visit their website for latest updates. Otherwise download the driver: 1.00.0.26. Let us know what happens, and good luck. Take Care. |
