wd passport won't show up in explorer

So I couldn't get windows to stop my passport drive this morning so I just yanked out the usb cable and now when I plug it back in, the drive doesn't appear in windows explorer. Disk manager shows it as a blank drive with 100% space free but I ran recoverysoft demo software on it and the program found all my files. What does this mean? And how do I get the drive to show up in explorer again?

    Thanks for any help

Plug it in and go into device manager>hardware. Look for a bad device and uninstall it there.Turn off computer, remove device, reboot. After reboot and all has loaded, plug it back in and see if it's recognized.

    Try this too.

Right click My Computer | Manage | Disk Management | Right Click the drive partition. I believe its Activate Volume. What will happen, or should happen, is that a window will probably pop up asking you to perform a certain task. Now for the life of me I can't remember the name... but you will see it there.

When you yanked the passport without getting clearance to pull out external drive, you probably left some representation of it on system memory. So at some point it may have isolated it. try doing a regular drive manual install if My Computer doesn't see it as a drive. If it does, try right clicking on it twice to open it.

These "hot swap" external drives are not all that hot swappable as they advertise.

Yes, not getting clearance is very bad. In fact you can loss your pilots license.

As mentioned though, you should always click the hardware icon in the task bar and select remove device". Do this for ALL USB devices.
