Hello
I have a HP/compaq nc4010 laptop with a 1.6ghz pentium M cpu, 1gig of system ram.
A few days ago i decided to buy a new HD, because my old hitachi 40gb wasn't enough. So i went with a Samsung spinpoint 160gb.
Since the notebook is dated all the way back to 2004, i wasn't sure that the new drive was going to be supported. Anyways, i hooked it up to the laptop and it seemed like no problem. So I went on installing windows xp. Since i just have an old copy of windows XP, without SP1 i knew that it wouldn detect the total capacity of the HD. Anyways, no to my problem..
The install went fine and i installed SP 3. and i noticed that sometimes when I move around the mouse, it stops, just as if the computer lags. I started winamp, started listen to a song, and went on installing some apps, and now the music freezes for like half a second, then it plays on. Seems like the computer starts to lag when the new HD is on high load, during installs, filetransfers via network etc.
I've never had these issues before, with my 40gb drive. What can be wrong?? Can it be that the system itself don't support such a "big" drive?
Or is it something wrong with the disk itself?
Need help on this one!
Thanks!
