Ok, that was my own dumb mistake. I figured it out seconds after I posted that message, but didn't edit the post.
Anyways, here's exactly what I did.
Booted the CD
Selected my new HD
Clicked Resize
Clicked "Partition Only"
It gave me a wanring about the chance of loss data. I clicked ok.
Waited a few seconds, and noticed the yellow section is smaller.
Clicked "Write Changes" so the change stays.
Now my HD is RAW file system and has 0 btyes of capacity.
Don't worry, I know how to undo the damage and get my 127GB back. I'm wondering what exactly went wrong though. |

That's why the paid version of Partition Magic rules. Freeware=junk most times...
Slipstream your setup CD with SP3. It's all you can do. |

Ok, I have the CD burned. I did not see anything about what to do after the disc is burned, so I assume I just install what's on the newly burned disc to my new HD? I want to be sure I'm doing the right thing before I go and make a mistake. |

Just treat it like a genuine XP CD. Boot from it and install. You should see the entire drive this time. |

@#$%. I booted from the CD, and installed everything, but I still don't have the full drive.
I'm getting really annoyed now. |

I did update my bios.
Ok, I have this Board: ASUSTeK Computer INC. P4G533LA REV 1.xx
Bus Clock: 100 megahertz
BIOS: Award Software, Inc. 3.17 10/16/2003
My bios is also Award Modular v6.0
I went to the manufacturer's website for updates, and the model is not even listed. I searched around for any BIOS update past my current version of 3.17, but no luck. I got the latest update I could find from here BIOS update for P4G533-LA motherboard*Compaq Presario S4010CL Desktop PC
Directly from HP's site. It was the only BIOS update they has listed. So yes, I did update my bios. |

It's important to give feedback on each salient point, as you can see. Although I mentioned the BIOS 3 times, this is the first time you've acknowledged it.
OK - so your problem is that this ancient (and it is very old) motherboard doesn't support drives over 127GB. We can work around that, but it will cost you a bit more.
You need one of these: Newegg.com - PROMISE ULTRA133TX2 PCI IDE Controller Card - Controllers / RAID Cards
XP should support it natively, but it comes with a floppy disk and drivers if you need them. |
