I'm looking for a 1TB hard drive available from an American retailer online.
I can't seem to search for the cheapest price myself as Google is defaulting results to the UK retailers. I also guess that you'd probably know the best price for hard drives too...
I've looked at Newegg, does anyone know of any online palce @ less than $179?

right now 1TB drives are going to be pricey, even 750GB are still up there, only relatively recently have I seen 500GB drives on sale for under $80-$100 range over here in the states.
but I'd recommend using Pricegrabber.com to check for pricing...

Thing is, I only have 3 slots in my case, so I need to be selective in the capacity of drives. The case is small, but I can support up to 6 drives |

I would suggest looking at the Hitachi drive 1Tb its a little bit more but haven't heard of any failure complaints. Some friends i know have bought the WD and Seagates with them failing in the first week. |

Yes, I might be going with the Hitachi, but I can't wait for their new drive, the Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.B.
Is it possible to connect these SATA drive in RAID 0 - I believe this is the faster config? I hope it doesn't affect my current primiarly SATA connect drive. |

yep, if your motherboard has an onboard RAID controller/chip you can do it that way (most onboard chips will support at least RAID 0, & 1, if not both of those plus 0+1 config, as well as many newer ones also support RAID 5, then of course there is the bastard child of RAID, JBOD...)
or you can do it another way, setup a "software" RAID 0 setup, currently thats how I have my 80GB x2 setup in RAID 0, have to do it with in Windows, in my case, WinXP, using Computer Management (if I remember right, been awhile since I messed with it), not sure about what the steps in Vista are.
but there are at least 2 ways of running RAID 0 in windows, either Hardware using onboard motherboard controller, if it has one, or software from with in Windows. Windows Method is easiest to set up, but from what I hear Hardware is the best method. won't be messing with that aspect myself for a week or two. |

Would I need any extra hardware, such as cables for this? And how would I know whether my board supports it, the board is in my sig. |

Jimmy, I looked up your board on google, simply used Newegg for the info, from what I found was this... Newegg.com - ASUS P5N32-E SLI Plus LGA 775 C55+MCP55P; a.k.a. nForce 650i SLI & nForce 570 SLI ATX Intel Motherboard - Intel Motherboards
If thats the same board, here is what it says for your storage capabilities...
Storage Devices
PATA 1 x ATA100 2 Dev. Max
SATA 3Gb/s 6
SATA RAID NV RAID 0/1/0+1/5 JBOD
NV RAID, is just nvidia's RAID chip, so in this case it supports Hardware RAID for the SATA drives, supports RAID 0, RAID 1, RAID 0+1, RAID 5 & JBOD (JBOD isn't really an official form of RAID, and it just mean Just a Bunch Of Disks, basically combines as many drives as you want of various sizes into one Volume) |
