desparately need WD800JB drive - Tech Support Forums

I'm fairly sure my WD800JB circuit board failed. Through some unfortunate circumstances, I don't have backup for some VERY VERY critical files. So I need a new circuit board to try to get the files off the drive.

Does anyone have a WD800JB-00FMA0 ? Either the board or entire drive?

I just pulled a WD800JB-00JJC0 out of one of my secondary machines. Not sure if that would work for you. Let me know.

Beware, the model number is not all that needs to match if you will be swapping circuit boards. The drives have different firmware depending on when they were manufactured. You'll need to ensure virtually all ID codes on the drives match up except for the unit-specific serial number in order for them to work together. If you put the wrong board on the wrong drive, it will damage any data already on the disk.

If the files are that critical or valuable, use of a professional recovery service like OnTrack might be advisable.
