I have a Maxtor OneTouch. As I was using it yesterday, I saw it failing before my eyes. All of the sudden when I opened a folder where I knew data has always existed, I couldn't see the data. I tried going to a couple of different folders - same thing. Then all of the sudden I got an error message saying that data was lost & next thing I knew, my computer couldn't detect my Maxtor at all. Since then, I have tried turning off the Maxtor & turning it back on. If I try to boot up my computer with the Maxtor hooked up, the computer doesn't boot up at all. If I boot up the Maxtor once my computer is already on - I can sometimes see the drive, but it appears as an unformatted drive. I can't find any entries where someone else has experienced this exact same scenario. Does anyone have a clue as to what this problem might be and what do you think the prognosis is regarding retrieving my data? It is very important info. Thanks!
