As part of my system, I have an Adaptec 2130slp SCSI controller with 8 Seagate drives in a RAID 10 configuration. I also have a drive activity LED on each physical drive brought out to where I can monitor it.
On occasion (I can't duplicate the problem when I want), all of the drive activity LED's come on solid and the computer locks up including no mouse, keyboard etc.
After about 10 - 15 seconds, control returns by itself without any data loss. It appears that the problem will occur during a heavy write operation.
I have changed out ALL of the hardware with the exception of the drives, turned of caching and have tried just about every permentation of the hardware, including different RAID level. It does not matter if I use XP or Vista 32. Different model video cards.
Has anyone run into this? Fix?
Thanks,
Barry
