new HD not assigned
Destined to be a newb forever it seems
Using XP Pro I just installed a new 500GIG WD SATA drive. When I booted after installing it the new hardware balloon recognized it, it shows up in BIOS as 4th master, all 3 of my drives are SATA. I want to use this one as a scratch disc. Device manager says it's working properly but it doesn't show up in My Computer & obviously it's not assigned a letter so what gives guys? Never encountered this before.
Thanks for any "now here's how""It is difficult to free fools from the chains they revere" Voltaire

Another way would have been to go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management > Disk Management. There you can format and initialize your new drives.Unofficial TechIMO record holder for the number of times being added and removed from beemer's ignore list.
