| Solid state vs. SATA
I think SATA is more for the money right now. Not as fast as Solid State. More storage is key. I think the prices will start dropping more. Let me know what you think. |

SSD needs a few years to mature.

SATA is an interface type and Solid State is a storage technology. Can't compare these two ...
Are you trying to compare SSD and classic rotating hard disk technology? |

Yeah most solid state disks use the SATA connection to link to the system

Unfortunately SSD are still too exprensive compared to conventional drives.
As said before it needs time to refine the production process so they can reduce the pricing and become more mainstream. |

I could possibly see SSD drives making their way into next gen gaming consoles, if they don't gain popularity & prices drop by then, if that did happen, then I can see console systems really helping break in these drives...
but that could be a ways off, so who knows.
but as others have said SSD's are still too expensive, though performance is significantly more than rotational drives, the price per Gigabyte is way to high on SSD's.
on bright side I remember reading ads in Computer Shopper over 10 years ago for 300+MB SSD's that were between 10 & 20 grand |

remember about 4 years ago when you could get a 2GB thumb drive for about $150, and now their dirt cheap.
