i been having a issue with my laptop and this is not the first time this happened. After a fresh restart of my computer about 2 weeks later i cant defrag or chkdsk. also some files get corrupted. i called dell and they replaced my hard drive and it happened again. my warrenty is over now so i can't get another one also i dont want to keep replacing it.
when i do i chkdsk windows will ask me to schedule it after a restart. I say "yes" then i restart and it skips the process all together, it just loads windows. when i select regular chkdsk without restarting it will start scanning and then it will say under the status bar "1 large file processed" and it will just disappear. when it comes down to defraging the window will just disappear after like 20 some seconds of defragging. I wish windows will tell me whats going on.
anyone know how i can fix this?
im running windows vista with Dell Inspiron E1505 laptop with a 80 gig Hard drive
You no longer need to guess! This free stability scan and registry cleaner download will give you a complete diagnosis of your Windows registry, identifying errors and conflicts.
Since this has happened to two drives it seems something is wrong with the laptop. Power, too much rough movement/vibrations, or a bad data interface, such as the cable or motherboard connection. It could be a bad series of hard drives, too.
You could run a diagnostic test using a bootable hard drive tester.
