if you have a SATA hard drive already and the drive in the link is SATA... (assuming they are both 3.5 inch Hard drives)
then 2+2=4
as to #2, it was already briefly mentioned how to go about this in your other thread, the one in which you said you scanned it quickly (the post) and would save for later use if needed...
my method I posted about or Glitch's method using Ubuntu Liinux, and there are several other ways to go about this as well.
as to the hard drive if it has permanently failed due to a hardware failure or physical damage of some sort, there is no way of fixing it with out cracking it open and physically fixing the damaged parts, in which case you need to know how to do that and what to fix, 99% of PC users I suspect lack the training/skill, and tools to do this though.
the so called Freezer trick is only really for certain types of failures and is ONLY (if it even works) a temporary measure to let the drive function long enough to retrieve data before eminent failure occurs.
its sort of a last ditch effort quick temporary fix, along the same lines as the Xbox 360 towel trick.
