I have a Maxtor DiamondMax Plus9 160gig ATA/133 hard drive that will no longer power up. I had been using it as a external HDD plugged into USB via a USB>IDE adapter (Came with a 4 prong plug that went into the wall). It was working fine and I had just thrown a bunch of music and videos onto it and didn't plug it in for a few months. I decided to plug it in today to give some of my videos to a buddy of mine and it wouldn't power up. Any solution other than sending it in to someone for 200+ dollars to get data off of it?
As much as I'd love to it won't fit. I have an Antec300 case with 2 ATI 4870's xfired, a 3650, 2 other HDD, an aftermarket cpu fan (Pretty damn big), a CD drive (Obviously), a 850watt Corsair psu and wires out the ass everywhere.
You dont need to fit it in there, im sure with those specs you must have an IDE slot not in use. Just hook the drive up and leave it next to the case.
