WD Slave folder not accessible

About a month ago now i did a full reinstall of my system, to clear of any old drivers etc and just start from scratch. I disconnected both the power and IDE cable from the slave as i didn't want anything happening to it. Installation all ok, so connect it back up. I remember when i first put this drive on the machine after i built it, it detected the new hardware and did the obligatory "your new hardware is installed and ready to use." This time nothing, but the drive was fine and contents still there.

Unfortunately there was a catch, the most important folder on it named "My Stuff" now displays an error box with E:\My Stuff is not accessible. Access is Denied. In the folder properties it clearly states 0 bytes which is obviously not good. I tried the drive on two other machines and the same folder is not accessible with the same warning.

I'm guessing that its obviously been corrupt in some way, but i was hoping perhaps somebody could shed some light on it as i'm a bit baffled as to why its done it! Luckily i actually backed up all of that folder a few weeks prior and looking back i'm glad i did!

Thanks for the link, unfortunately there appears to be no security tab.

It sounds like the drive isn't formatted with NTFS, which is how you would adjust the permissions.
How to convert a FAT16 volume or a FAT32 volume to an NTFS file system in Windows XP

You should be aware there is a slight risk of some data loss/corruption - although I've never had it happen to any of the drives I've converted - so, if it is important you should be able to take it back to a previous backup.

Ok just looked in properties and the its using the NTFS file system. I think this really is just a case of being unlucky and i don't think there is much chance in access.

Have you tried a simple chkdsk on the drive?
