Upgrading a laptop hard drive from 40GB to 250GB (any issues?)
I am upgrading the hard drive in a Compaq nx9010 laptop to a larger hard drive.
It currently has a Toshiba MK4021GAS, 4200 RPM, 40GB drive.
I want to upgrade this to a larger drive. Does anyone see any issues upgrading to an ATA-6, 5400RPM, 250 GB drive?

It should work fine and much faster...Just keep in mind it'll be a bit warmer and use more battery power then the 4200 drive.

Thanks,... I believe the laptop is usually plugged in anyway. Thanks for the response!

Oooops...Forgot to mention - if your, I'm guessing, XP cd is "only" XP and doesn't have SP1 or SP2 built into it, you be limited to a 137 gig C drive. Once Windows is installed you can make an additional partition(s).
