| raid card as standard interface?
hi i have a silicon image IDE raid card which i salvaged from a second hand computer so have no instructions, what i would like to know is, can i use it to add a standard IDE interface to my computer?
the reason being i just got given a brand new seagate 250gb IDE hard drive which i would like to use as a back up drive in my pc, but my mobo only has 1 IDE interface which is taken up by my 2 optical drives
any help greatly appreciated
many thanks
glen

It shouldnt be a problem as long as you have a open pci card slot on your motherboard and you can find the drivers |

hey GZ3 just another quickie about the raid card, will the single IDE interface on the raid card still support a master and slave device, I.E. 2 x optical drives assuming all jumpers on the drives are in the correct position or do i need another IDE interface for the second drive
thanks

Win7 picked up the C media chip on your card. But , it may not support anything other than Ide harddrives. YMMV I haven't tried my C-Media card on Win7. |
