The basic system
MSI P6N SLI Platinum
Intel Core2Duo E6600
4GB Corsair XMS DDR2800
Dual PNY 8600GTO's
Dual Pioneer SATA DVD burners
WD 74GB Raptor SATA main HD
WD 250GB SATA HD
WD 750GB SATA HD in XTRASTOR eSATA/USB enclosure (the problem)
Windows 7 RC (build 7100)
The problem is, every time I try to read, write, or do a long format of the external drive I get an 0x8007045D Error code. I have tried with the drive connected as eSATA and also as USB, same results either way.
Sometimes it will even lock the computer up for about 3-5 minutes. After the lockup happens, the external drive will disappear from the drive list until I shut it off and restart it (the drive, not the computer).
I've tried the fix I found through a Google search, it didn't help. The fix was to shut off system restore for all drives, and then turn it back on to clear/reset the restore points as the error was supposedly caused by corrupted restore points. The other thing that I found was that SQL and MSSQL were possible causes, neither is running on this computer.
Has anyone found a fix that actually works?
