SSD or 2x640gb RAID 0

Deciding between a SSD OCZ vertex turbo 60gb with a 1tb WD storage $475 AU

or 2x 640gb WD in raid 0 $178

im a gamer

price isnt to much of an issue

I've heard that SSD is essentially the same as 'flash' memory, and as such, it can only be written to a certain number of times......

Obviously, that isn't going to be a good thing if it is correct....

An SLC SSD would take decades to hit its maximum number of read/write cycles.

An MLC SSD drive (old technology) would still take 5 years or so.

A SSD hard drive has a much longer life span than a tradition HDD.


EDIT: ALso, if you do wear down all of the memory blocks in your SSD, the drive will just go into read only mode and no data will be lost.
