How would I go about doing this?IDE to Raid 0

Ok guys, I want to take my data and my OS off of my IDE drive and move it to 2 new Sata Drives in Raid 0. Is this possible?

If it is possible my plan to do it is this.

    1. Connect Sata Drives to motherboard.
    2. Boot into bios and set-up raid 0
    3. Boot into windows Format Drives
    4. Use program to clone IDE drive to Sata drives.
    5. Remove IDE drive.

Acronis True Image will let you do this. Not sure about other cloning software.

That's fine. As long as its possible to do it, I'll pay for this Arconis True Image software and finally get some new drives to play with.

From your reply, it sounds like you agree that it is possible, as long as I have this software to help me out on step 4. Yippy!!!

UPDATE: So I finally got a pair of 150GB Raptors. Man it was a pain serisously! I installed them, and than I reformatted them seperately, than once I got the raid drivers installed I set up the raid and I had to Reformat again the drives again, but this time as 1 drive combined .

Like my steps 1-5 were kinda off. And I had to press F10 to get into the array set-up.

All in all , in the end Arconis True Image Home 2010 WORKED!

Best part of all was, they have this 30 day trial, so I didn't have to really pay for it, its not like I am gonna ever use it again anyway.

Can a 780i motherboard do SATA 6.0 Gb/s? Im really eyeing these drives at the egg and was curious. Thnx again.

First, no SATA drive is capable of 6.0 Gb/s.

Second, are you moving your data and OS from an IDE to an SATA drive in the same computer? If not, your plan isn't going to work.

Yeah, I know my plan sucked lol. I did it though. I used Arconis True Image to clone the IDE to 2 SATA drives in RAID 0. You're right my plan didn't work out so well, I didn't know I had to install Nvidia Raid drivers, and I had problems formatting. I should of done it like this.

    1. Install and Connect SATA Drives to motherboard.
    2. Install Hard-Drive Driver
    3. Install Nvidia Raid Drivers.
    4. Boot Into Bios, Set up Sata Drives to be Raided
    5. Boot into Raid Bios (F10 and set up Striped Raid Array)
    6. Format the new Raided HDD's
    7. Use Arconis
    8.Remove IDE drive.

I have a couple more questions though.
    1. Is it possible to use this IDE drive as storage? I mean I don't want to mess with my new Raid array, but if its possible, that would be even cooler.
    2. My current Raided hard drives are a pair of these Newegg.com - Western Digital Raptor X WD1500AHFDRTL 150GB 10000 RPM 16MB Cache SATA 1.5Gb/s 3.5" Hard Drive

Which set-up would be faster in Raid 0, a pair of these Raptors or these Caviar Blacks?

Thnx again for alls of your helps.

You should be able to hook up the IDE drive with out issues. Just make sure the raid is set to boot first.

Raptors spin at 10,000rpm wich is faster then 7,200

Ok one more question here. I am going to swap out my 780i for a 790i Ultra. Will I run into any problems storage related?

Edit: I meant to put that question a different way.

Is it possible to switch out a motherboard for a different motherboard and not lose any data?
