    can i have a sata drive with a IDE drive?

     
    im about to go to the store and get a sata drive for my computer, im gonna make the sata drive primary. so can i use my current drive IDE as a back up or secondary drive?

    i built it there is no model number...anyways i just want to run both drives on my d865perl motherboard

    Short answer is, Yes, you should be able to.

    (but hard to say for certain considering the age of that board, Intels site shows interactive support for that board ended in 2007, so you'll have to probably dig around on their sites page for the board, for the info.)

    but you should be able to, I've been able to use SATA and IDE interchangeably on boards as old as 1st Generation Athlon XP era boards.
