    Thanks for any replies!

A 1GB drive is pretty small, but I'd guess you can find one for somewhere in the $50-75 range, about the same as a 300-500GB PATA drive.

So 1GB SSD is equal to 300GB of a PATA HDD?...

You really aren't making much sense... A 1GB SSD would not hold much data at all, and I doubt you could find one that small. Are you looking for the speed difference between PATA drives and SSD drives?

What the heck are you asking there? 1gb of space is equal to 1gb of space period. I don't know that they actually have 1gb SSD drives, they have 1gb flash drives? The smallest SSD drive I can see anyone actually using would be a 30-40gb drive and in terms of cost they are about equal to a 1tb sata drive

edit: Today you can get a 30gb SSD for $59.99 at Newegg and if you are comparing prices that would be the same as a 500gb WD drive

    - I was wondering that a 1GB space of a SSD is equal to a, maybe 10GB of a regular HDD. Just like currency exchange rate, a 1 USD is about 7.8 HKD - it's both 1 xxx but differentiated by the exchange rate...[/QUOTE]

    - 1GB is simply an example. I saw an ad selling a netbook where the drive is a 4GB SSD. I don't know if that's a typo.

Dude drive type makes no difference 1gb of space is 1gb of space it doesn't matter if its a floppy drive, CD drive, hard drive flash drive or what. Its 1gb no matter what media its in/on. Just like 1 liter of water is 1 liter of water no matter what. I don't know how, what or why you'd think of something random like a currency exchange rate when talking drive volumes.

    - that seems to support my assumption that a 1GB of a SSD is bigger than the same capacity of a regular HDD.

You are kidding me right being more EXPENSIVE has nothing to do with drive capacity. Like I said 1gb is 1gb no matter what type of media its in or on.

No, it's just more expensive because it's a newer technology. A GB is a GB.

    - No I wasn't kidding at all, but I did misunderstand.

So I guess it's the speed that should be comparable to the currency exchange rate.

Thanks all and sorry for the dumbness.

Now we're talking about currency exchange rates? Are you in the EU?

No I'm not in the EU.

Please just ignore the currency exchange rate stuff. It was actually an example of what I meant by "1GB is equal to more than 1GB" when both are 1GB. Well one cent is always one cent, isn't it? But when you use your one cent in a country, it could worth more or less than that.

if your looking around 150gb, its about 7:1 from what ive seen. but then it increases to about 31:1 if you want 512gb
