dvd motor bad?
hope i'm posting in the right place...i have a lite on dvd burner...i know, stop buying lite on. replaced with an ASUS but i took it apart, hoping it just needed a cleaning. Yes, i know enough to take it apart and put it back together safely. done it with various other components. my only problem is, the spindle motor used for spinning the disk rattles. sounds to me like loose ball bearings. i assume this is a bad motor but just wanted a more experienced opinion, since this is the first dvd rom i've taken down this far. others i fixed were much simpler.

Hi Ninjajoe99,
Welcome to TechIMO.
I've never disassembled the spindle of a DVD drive but I rather doubt they're built with ball bearings. But if you have a spindle problem, there's no fixing the thing, so you might as well take it apart and see what you find.

Nothing wrong with Lite-on IMO, I've been happy with them.
DVD burners can be had for about $20 after shipping so just open it up and see what you find. It's an inexpensive part to replace.Cute
