Windows PC dead, HD placed into external Case...
Hi,
Windows laptop died. Hard drive removed (works fine on win7) and placed into usb external case.
Now enters the new PC which is a Mac.
Mac is saying it cant access the files? Can see them fine.
I no nothing about Macs and this is for a friend.
If it was windows I would start with permissions and alike.
Could someone please give me somewhere to start.
Thanks.
*edit*
More info..
He can see them as files but when clicked on they don't open? Does he need to install some software?Last edited by theonetruegod; October 23rd, 2011 at 03:39 PM.

It would seem the person in question sorted it 30mins after I posted.
"I could all of a sudden open them" is what I was told.
So maybe the mac was just indexing them or something like that?
Sorry about late reply but thanks for answering. I will book mark the 101 page for later help.
