i have a acer aspire 5100 lap top that no longer starts due to various reasons, it has ~100 gigs of personal and important files that i want to transfer to a working lap top. what i am asking is if there is a hard drive to usb cable or something similar so i can hook up the hd to another computer that works and transfer the files, the hard drive is a segate momentus 5400.3 120gb. can you give me a link to a cheap cable or something so that i can hook it up to another computer? thanks!

You will first need to remove the HD, then use an adapter such as this:Newegg.com - Vantec 2.5"/3.5"/5.25" SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter - Model CB-ISATAU2

    In a word, NO.

No program can just be transfered,
Unless you are talking about an old DOS program like Solitaire.

Programs are installed in dozens of places, within windows.

The operating system, is the same, unless you have an image, and that pretty much, has to be the same motherboard.

A repair install, after transferring the image, sometimes works, on similar boards, but you need a Win7 disk, with a valid key.

    OEMs can't be transfered anyway.
