External Hard Drive Help
Hey, I have an HP laptop, which has a DVD drive, but I'd like to hook up this external drive Newegg.com - LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model iHAS124-04 - CD / DVD Burners. Will that work with this SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable for 2.5 / 3.5 Inch Hard Drive / Optical Drive with External AC Power Adapter:Amazon:Computers & Accessories
Thanks!

SATA/PATA/IDE Drive to USB 2.0 Adapter Converter Cable
LITE-ON DVD Burner - Bulk 24X DVD+R 8X DVD+RW 12X DVD+R DL 24X DVD-R 6X DVD-RW 16X DVD-ROM 48X CD-R 32X CD-RW 48X CD-ROM Black SATA Model iHAS124-04
So yes.
Or rather than messing with all of that, for a few bucks more, just get a regular external USB 2.0 drive:
Newegg.com - SAMSUNG USB 2.0 Slim External 8X DVD Burner - Blue Model SE-208AB
no need for external power connectors and all that. Powered right off the USB port.i7 940//Corsair H60//EVGA X58 SLI LE//6GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz//2x EVGA GTX 560 Ti FPB SLI//NZXT Hale82 850W//CM 690 II Advanced//Win7 64//WD 74GB V-raptor, 750GB Black, 1.5TB Green

I'll be able to backup my 360 games with that drive. I think i'm going to go with this one Newegg.com - Vantec 2.5"/3.5"/5.25" SATA/IDE to USB 2.0 Adapter - Model CB-ISATAU2

i see, was wondering if it was something to do with console systems.
You could also look into a dedicated External Enclosure like these, though costs nearly twice as much, but if your looking for something more "Clean" than a bunch of cables running loose all over...
