(EISA Configuration)????????

I just received my new Dell 4550 and on the hard drive there is an
entry without a drive letter and I havn't a clue what it is.

It is a Fat partition of some kind and the status says (EISA Configuration).

What is it? And can I get rid of it using FDISK?

Any help appreciated.

Where are you seeing this, in Explorer? I'm thinking it's the ZZTop file. Maybe they're putting it in a different partition so it doesn't get overwritten.

Other than that, how's the 4550?

That is Dell's recovery partition if I remeber correctly? Its probably like a 400 or 500 meg parition that has all the Dell Recovery software on it. When your machine boots, do you have an option to press a key to start the Recovery software or something similar? Might be offbase, but I think I remeber correctly.

You're right. It's like a Ghost image of the hard drive when the computer was shipped. ZZTop is the program Dell loads that does the restoration of this image. It's real handy for Dell to solve problems created by customers who don't know what they're doing.
