| What Brand hard drive to choose?
I'm looking to get a 60GB 7200 HD for under 100$
Is WD safe, the best or what?

Ok, AFAIK, Buffers are best on a defragged drive, but when you access let's say file1.txt, it will read the file1.txt and continue to fill the buffer (continuous read for 8Mb) then when you access file2.txt that was the next file, it already has it read and can deliver it from it's own cache to your computer rather then seek for the file from the disk which takes a bit longer. |

If you've got a Best Buy near you, you can go grab a WD120gb Caviar 7200rpm 8mb cache for $80 after rebate. $160 - $80rebate = $80. |

I'm running both a Western Digital and a Maxtor hard drive in my system right now. The Western Digital's been a bit flaky, but I haven't had any problems with Maxtor lately. |
