What hard drives does HP Use?

This is my current computer http://h20015.www2.hp.com/en/documen...cName=bph05428

The hard drive on this computer has been great! Never died or been a POS on me. I'm building a new computer and i want to know what kind of hard drive it uses so i can buy that kind for my new computer.

so why not just crack the case and take a peek.

hp typically uses maxtor...at least on therir business machines. i had them send me a replacement drive for a dead 10 gb maxtor and they sent a seagate (they basically buy whatever's the cheapest in bulk for replacements). i was very happy...i'll take seagate over maxtor any day.

You can check it by going into device manager then see the name under Disk drives ..
Get that name and google it ...

Seagate, WD and Maxtor ... you can`t get wrong with any of them.
Fast and reliable.

Guys I have a problem and this thread may help, my HP laptop is having hard drive problems...it doesn't have one. To make a long story short, it was removed during some repair when the laptop was under the ownership of my stepfather. When recovered, the hard drive went MIA and the techs at this computer place said it was dead. Now, I'm stuck looking for a new hard drive but I want to make sure that all the specs are right on this laptop. Check it out, the model is DV4305US. All I can find out is the size, speed and that it's IDE. Are all hard drives interchangeable?

yes all hard drives are interchangable. all you need is a 2.5" IDE drive and you are good to go.
