| Help me partition my drive.
Now, i know how to partition my drive, i just need help on figuring out what space i will put on them. I will have a 100GB hard drive on the pc i am building so i won't run out of space for now
Right now i have a 40GB backup drive planned..
Here is what i plan on having -
(20GB) For the OS, the apps and games installed. (7GB used so far)
(5GB) For my personal files, website, ect.
(37.5GB) For my media, MP3's pictures, ect. But i plan on getting a TV card, so i don't know if this will be enough. I have 725MB of mp3s now, so...
(37.5GB) For my apps. For the stuff i don't have on disk, like freeware apps, winamp, winrar, game patches, ect.. so when i format i can just install everything in less then a day, instead of searching...
So i don't know what to do. If this is right or what. So i need some help

I like smaller O/S drives myself. Faster "on the fly" maintenance. Is it one HDD or 2 that you will be using?
Cheers! |

Guys, no i want to know what i should set my drive partitions to..
Like should i have 20GB for the os? What do you think? Is 37.5 for the media too little? What about is 5GB too much for my personal files?
And i will be using two.
(1) 100GB drive for my stuff
(1) 40GB backup drive till i run out of space

I only use 3Gig for OS and programs, Games go on my larger part (2x35 raid 0, Gotta love Win2k having software raid, you don't need 2 drives the same size and any leftover drive space you can make another drive) |

Oh crap, i misread my info. I have 15GB free, HAH
Just read it again, i have 7GB used for my current hard drive.
725 in apps
5GB in games
1GB for win2k
Now going over it, maybe i should take it down some

With WinXP you will want at least 5gigs if you are to install your programs to another drive. Is your 40gig as fast as your 100gig?
Cheers! |
