DVD-R or DVD+R for a PS2

I'm looking into buying a DVD burner, but am unsure as to which format I should choose. I use my PS2 as my DVD player and want to make sure that the DVD's I burn will play on it.

Does anyone have any experiences with either format on a PS2?
If so, what happened?

Thanks in advance

I don't have any first hand experience with the PS2 and DVD playback, but the compatability list for +R/RW players at http://www.dvdxcopy.com/compat_list.htm shows that some of the models play +R/RW disk well (seems like maybe later versions?) and some don't play +R but do play +RW. Hope this helps a little bit.

Cool, thanks for the list. Do you by chance know if there is a similar list for -R/RW?

hey, I found one

Been wondering about that myself, so I did a search. Apple's superdrive uses DVD-R media and they have a compatablility list here http://www.apple.com/dvd/compatibility/

Looks like your good on the PS2 for DVD-R as well.

I've played movies in my unmodded R7 PS2 burned on Princo and KHypermedia -R's and Memorex -RW's.

I recommend staying away from KHypermedia. The first spindle I bought worked fine, but since then I've bought 2 spindles that don't even burn all the way. They stop at about 60%. And you can see variations in the dye.

Try www.vcdhelp.com - they are a very good site except the design is a bit cluttered.
