| Virtual CD-ROM Drive?
what is a virtual cd-rom drive and how do i make one? |

A virtual CD rom drive temporarily adds another drive letter to the file system... Many people use them to "fake out" software that requires a CD and use downloaded copies on their hard drives. Not positive how to make one, but thats the basic function. If you've ever used a boot disk... its somewhat similar to when it creates a temporary d: for all of the utilities such as fdisk and format |

you could get norton ghost, it's a prog that creates a virtual cd-rom drive for you. |

I second what AuraEdge said in the post link above. DAEMON Tools is great, though, by nature, can be a little taxing on hard drive space. It works great and lets you simulate a CD-ROM drive using CD image files.

On *nix systems, just use:
mount -t iso9660 -o ro,loop=/dev/loop0 cd_image_file /mnt/cdrom |

I have used Daemon Tools in the past to mount CD image files. The new version of CloneCD creates a virtual CDROM. |
