    Too hot to touch

    Hi everybody!

I am working on an old Compaq for a friend and he is trying to put a new hdd in it. There are some problems with it sinc ethe BIOS doesn't like the size, but I think I have that problem solved. My question is, should a hdd be too hot to touch? I have the hdd out of the case sitting on the desk and it is really really hot. It is a brand new 100GB 7200rpm Western Digital. Diagnostic ont he drive are fine and it is not acting wierd. I would recommend that the guy put a hdd cooler in the system, but being a Compaq, there is no room.

    Thanks
    Dave

It certainly shouldn't be that hot. Warm at worst. If my drives were too hot to touch I would be very worried.

Maybe trade it in for a dif one or find a way to put a fan near it.
