Drive image/ bad clusters
Hi everybody!
If you image or ghost a drive that has bad clusters, after you get rid of the bad clusters via low level format, will restoring the image also restore the bad clusters?
Thanks
Dave

Hi Daveleau,
Yes they're marked in the Fat, but running Scandisk will recover the areas because they're no longer bad.To think there might be giants.

I think it depends if the bad clusters are due to physical damage or software related.
If the bad clusters were due to some sort of FAT corruption or software related then restoring a drive after fixing the bad clusters with LF would respore the original bad clusters as well.
On the other hand if the bad clusters were due to physical defects and mapped out by a LLF, then restoring would not make the bad clusters reappear.
My opinion though I have not tried this.

Not sure either, but I just learned that if you have bad clusters, you can't do a drive image using "Drive Image 2002"!
(Kept getting a "Error #48" message.)
