Whats the difference between SD & MMC memory cards?

Hey all,

I just got myself a nice 2MP digital camera (was pretty cheap, and i'm happy with the quality of it so far).

It came with 16MB memory built into it, which doesn't really last all that long when setup for best quality pictures. The manual says the camera supports MMC & SD memory cards for expansion memory, but it doesn't say what the difference is between them.

I wanna buy some more memory, probably 64MB depending on the price..... Will i notice any functionality difference or performance difference between the 2 types? or will they be pretty much the same? Which is usually cheaper?

Which would you all choose to buy?

Thanks in advance

SD is generally faster than MMC. SD incorporates "cryptographic security for protection of copyrighted data," whereas MMC does not. SD is also somewhat more durable, having a somewhat thicker casing than MMC. Pricing at the moment has the SD card cheaper than MMC, although not too long ago SD was considerably more expensive.

I have a MP3 player that supports SD/MMC. I bought MMC at the time.

Kewls, thanks for the links, i'll check em out when i get a couple minutes...

From what ya said, it seems SD would be the way to go with it being faster, more secure, more durable & cheaper...
