Fomatting Problem

I've been running into this problem while triing to format this hdd. It gets through the first 85 percent of the formatting process then i get a message saying TRYING RELOCATE ALLOCATION UNIT 1,770,541 . I'm assuming that there is a bad sector or something along those lines. If anyone has any suggestion they would be greatly appreciated.

thanks,

Naes

yes, it sounds like the floppy has some bad sectors. try using a different diskette. if a similar problem occurs with multiple floppies, then the drive most likely needs to be replaced.

If someone cant come up with something better... then my suggestion is to download your brandnames disk diagnostic program from their website and use it to check the drive.
you usually have to download a zip or program that makes a bootable floppy that you have to reboot from to use diagnostic.
Good Luck,,,this can be frustrating and sad when you find out you have bad drive!
