Packard Bell and HDD

I have this old Packard Bell, it's got a 486 and I think 32mb of ram. I don't really know anything else about this computer. I'm trying to put a 800 MB hard drive in there. The BIOS doesn't support this size and overlay software doesn't load when it is booted.

What can I do?

Thanks

I think native support on this machine would be up to 528mb. An overlay such as Maxblast etc should work but if it doesn't you could always install a seperate controller card or just partition the HD with a 528mb partition and use that. Did you try overlay written specifically for the brand of HD that you have?

Not much left for PB support anymore but your best bet is to look here at Ray's Packard Bell Site

Thanks

That sounds about right for the native support.

I'll try partitioning a smaller drive and see if that works. If not, I'll see if a seperate card works. It's a Western Digital and I did try the overlay that they have in their Data Lifeguard Tools.
