win98 and win xp hard drive transfer

I'm fairly certain you will have to fdisk and format if you use a drive overlay program. You may be able to get away with a second ~32 gig partition and keep the original intact. You could probably use partition magic to expand the first partition if you have it available to you

oh yeah....but if you had like a 4 g drive or something, youd be straight...youd simply hafta make 3 "trips" lol.


Have you still got the old drive that was there before the 40?

(get you a cheap newer motherboard to fit the case)



or..as far as the transfer issue.......jerk out the modem and throw a nic in there....crossover cable to the xp machine...boom, transfrred in no time.

well since its a compaq presario, it only likes the mobo and the hardware thats already installed
it is designed so that you cant get anything in there except what is already in there.

the hard drive that was in there before was a 1.6 gig that needs work... its the reason that the computer was given to my friend in the first place.

Im gonna try to do the bios overlay and create a second partition. hopefully it will work...

well.... i got it to go above that 8 gig limit, but not by much
fdisk sees an 8 gig partition and a 31 gig partition
windows sees a 7.85 gig partition and a 0.97 gig partition (8.82 gigs?)


any other suggestions?
