it wouldn't effect my personal experience.. but what about others who would like a more "low grade" type forum... a family type IMO community forum... without the "Adult" site added... I mean there are plenty of other forums that allow those type of topics ... and Tech IMO has kept "out" of the loop which maybe has added more members and maybe has had more members "wander" off to other forums...
I don't see how to keep anyone from getting into the forum... and putting up a "have to have a CC" to access, might as well make it a "XXX" forum ...
I don't know... just my opinion... like I said... nothing against you or anyone else...
I just wanted to state my opinion... either- or ... i still will be here... forever...and ever ...

The credit card verification idea is simply to ensure that only adults can access the forum. Who said anything about a "XXX" forum?
As far as keeping things "family friendly", things will be just as family friendly as before. And for those members who would choose not to participate in the AO forum - it would more or less not even exist for them.
On that note, I doubt people would be joining JUST to participate in the "AO" forums.
You seem unsure on your stance. Which seems silly to me. Having a forum for mature adult chatter seems like a great idea to me and others with whom I've discussed this and exchanged PM's. So if it's not something that would modify your forum experience and not something that you would be forced to use, why would you push a "No, I don't want this" opinion? |

okay, well, if it was put into action...
first off... how do you keep out "XXX" in a "Adult forum" ... how far would you be able to go ... all out ? I guess i am not sure on what "YOU" or "OTHERS" want in the forum... I mean, people can be adults now in the forum we do have without adding another... I just think it would get out of hand... and your right, i am not sure if i would visit it or not... but like i said, depends on what is allowed in the forum i guess... |

Thanks for your enlightening commentary, Dustay. Quote: |

If it's something that you're not going to be forced to participate in, and something that's not going to affect you in any way shape or form, I just can't fathom the opinion of, "Well, I'm not going to use it, it's not going to affect me, but I don't think we should have it anyway, and I subsequently feel that none of you should be allowed to have access to such a forum category."
As far as what would go in that forum, another aspect that I like to look at is what wouldn't go into that forum? It would be a great place to avoid a lot of threads and commentary that I just don't care to see. Couple that with the fact that it would likely be part of a forum subscription package, so you'd be supporting the forum. It's really a win-win situation.

Brandon | I never said no one should be allowed... i can only state my opinion... i am not Mike or Scott or Rob etc...
If there were a good set of rules to avoid "over doing it" that would be fine.. and yes any type of $$ to help out this forum is always good... and i might peek in a few times.... ... it's not a BAD idea.... if it can be moderated correctly, and yes, it might take away some of the other topics in the regular IMO community... |

I would have to say no.
I see it on the same plane as the Mac forum idea. I don't see a need for it, nor do I see how it would add value to the forum. |

You don't think that anyone else should be able to enjoy such a forum? Even though there are people who are interested in such a forum and feel that it would be a great addition? |

Even though there are people who are interested in such a forum and feel that it would be a great addition? | That doesn't affect my opinion (the operative word here is opinion). You seem to attack anyone who doesn't agree with you while praising those who do. If this is a place to vote or show support/disagree, then my comment is fully within those boundaries. Maybe you need to change the forum title to "Post Here only if you support an Adult Only Forum" as that seems to be the only thing you would like to see. |
